"Kids are too messy in the kitchen!"

  • 3-year-olds are learning to use their hands. Let them pour, stir, spread, and shake.
  • 4- and 5-year-olds are learning to use small muscles in their fingers. Let them peel bananas and eggs, cut with a plastic knife, mash, measure, and wipe off a table or counter.
  • Always wash hands before you cook for at least 15-20 seconds. Use soap and warm water and sing the ABCs.
  • Have your kids stand on a chair to help you prepare foods on the counter top.
  • Keep knives safely out of reach.
