  • Look at the serving sizes on packaged foods before you start eating.
  • Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are full of fiber which helps you to feel full and satisfied. Eat more fiber by making a few easy swaps:
    • whole grain pasta instead of white pasta
    • brown rice instead of white rice
    • beans instead of meat (even just a few times a week)
    • oatmeal or whole grain cereal instead of bagels or baked goods
    • snack on nuts or use them as salad toppers instead of croutons
  • Use smaller plates and cups. Your portion will appear larger than it is.
  • Avoid eating straight from the bag. Pour a serving into a bowl.
  • Avoid eating in front of the TV – it's been shown to make people eat more!
