Combine water and salt in a pot. Bring to a boil.
While stirring, slowly sprinkle in cornmeal. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Stir in corn kernels. Cover and simmer until cornmeal is tender and all water is absorbed, about 10 minutes more.
For another serving option, press the cooked mash into a lightly oiled baking dish and let cool completely. Cut into squares and serve at room temperature or reheat over a grill.
