This fresh fruit crumble is scrumptious and nutritious. Berries are rich in vitamins and anti-oxidants.
What you'll need
Measuring cups
Medium bowl
Spoon
Cutting board
Sharp knife
Baking sheet
Measuring spoons
Grater
Ingredients
6 cups Apples fresh or canned in its own juice; use alone or mix with berries or of Pears or of Peaches
Crumb Topping1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/3 cup Butter unsalted
1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon
1 tablespoon Lemon Peel finely grated
Directions
1.Prepare crumb topping. In a bowl: mix all ingredients until crumbly. Set aside, as it will be used in step #6.
2.Slice fruit into ½ inch wedges.
3.Preheat oven to 375°F.
4.Butter a 9”x12” baking pan.
5.Place fruit evenly in pan.
6.Cover fruit evenly with the crumb topping.
7.Bake for 35 minutes.
8.Serve warm.
Chef's Tips
- When using fruits like apples and pears for baking, it’s important to peel them.
- Try it with a dry rolled oats topping (substitute for crumb topping). Ingredients: ½ c dry rolled oats 2/3 c brown sugar ½ c whole wheat flour 4 Tbsp butter 1 tsp ground cinnamon ¼ tsp nutmeg 1 orange (juice only). Preparation: In a bowl, mix all ingredients until a coarse meal forms.
