Currently, there is no daily recommended dose of (pickled or raw) turmeric. However, there is a daily recommendation for curcumin, an active plant compound in turmeric that has many potential health benefits but can cause negative side effects if taken in high doses.1 The daily recommendation for curcumin is 0-3mg/kg body weight (or nearly 1.4mg/lb body weight; 1 kg = 2.2 lbs).


For example, a person who weighs 60kg (or 132lbs) can safely consume 60-100mg of curcumin per day, which equals to 2 to 2.5 teaspoons of ground turmeric (depending on the quality and source of the spice).2 


Turmeric can potentially be more harmful in supplement or powder forms but generally safe in amounts typically eaten in food. I suggest to use and consume turmeric in small amounts (as you would for other spices) and listen to your body. You may want to reduce the amount you use or avoid it if you notice negative side effects, such as nausea or stomach aches.
