Be ready for snacks.
  • Kids are more likely to eat healthy snacks if they see them easily.  Keep a bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen table.
  • Remind your kids that healthy foods give them energy to play hard.
  • Kids are hungry right when they get home from school or right before making dinner.  Having sliced fruits and veggies already prepared makes it easy to feed them.
  • Kids who drink too many sugary beverages can be too full to eat healthy foods.  Limit the beverages so they are more likely to eat their fruits and veggies.
  • Bring healthy snacks with you if you'll be out for long periods - a small bag of nuts, carrot sticks, or a piece of fruit are great choices.
