Hello and thank you for submitting your question!
It is great to hear you are trying to eat healthy! Healthy eating can be an overwhelming task so it is understandable (and may also be more helpful) that you start with eating the same foods in the beginning to help you form new habits. However, there can be potential harm in eating the same foods every day over time. Eating the same foods consistently can limit the amount of nutrients you obtain. Consuming a wide, colorful variety of food groups can help you get the different vitamins, minerals and other nutrients your body needs. Limiting variety in your diet may also affect your gut health. Recent research suggests the diversity of your food choices can influence the diversity of the species that grow and live in your gut.1 The amount and type of species that live in your gut (also known as your gut flora or gut microbiota) can affect how you digest foods and absorb nutrients.1
Remember to be kind and patient with yourself. It can take time to learn new cooking skills and form new eating habits. You can slowly add different foods when you have established a healthy eating routine and feel ready to try something new! Check out some of our recipes or meal plans to help you along the way! We also have Lifestyle pages on simple cooking tips to help make cooking at home a little easier.
Hope this helps!
