Chicozapote, or sapodilla, is a fruit with a unique flavor, soft brown pulp, and a sweet taste. As a result, it is eaten primarily as a dessert. The bark of the chicozapote tree has a gummy latex substance used as an ingredient in chewing gum.
Mature but unripe fruit should be kept at room temperature for up to 10 days until they are ripe. Ripe fruit should be kept in the refrigerator for up to one week.
